THANKFULLY CRAFTY

I LOVE Thanksgiving! Sure there is all the cooking, but still it is the best holiday! Actually I have gotten lucky the last few years and my husband and daughter have done most of the cooking for me, My point is, besides the cooking, there really isn't too much work involved. Christmas is insanity. Halloween needs costumes. All those eggs to hide for Easter.Forget it, I'll take Thanksgiving.

I am also a huge fan of the fall, so I really like to decorate. I find it hard to find decorations for Thanksgving so this year i made several of my own! I got a lot of ideas from www.svgcuts.com. I used their cut files for the turkey box,. Pilgrim's hate and Pilgrims. the rosettes are from Art Philosophy for Close to my Heart and a few items I found on Pinterest! I have huge boards for fall and Thanksgiving and i have made or done most of them!

I know my friends up in Canada have celebrated a few weeks ago and ours is still a few days away, but I know I will be busy with work. If you are looking for a last minute decoration, follow me on Pinterest for check out some of these sites!

Crafting can be dangerous!

Note to self: crafting can be dangerous!  First off, I am losing sleep due to crafting! I stay up late lurking on Pinterest which only makes me want to get up early so I  can make the projects!  So sleep and I have not been seeing much of each other lately!  It's pretty bad when I wake up in the middle of the night with a craft project!

I find myself second guessing everything I  throw away! Can I repurpose it, can I recreate something with it.. It just never ends! Again, I blame Pinterest!

I decided I would make this with these wonderful little plastic boxes i found at the dollar store. 10/$1! Can't beat it! Wait, yes I can, I can poke holes in the lids so that the twine can just come out as needed!

What better tool to do that with than the Martha Stewart screw punch I got on sale the other day with a 60% off coupon!

My plan was working great, until I slipped, because I got lazy! And this is why I say crafting is dangerous!

Hubs cleaned it out really well with some peroxide, I added some antibiotic and a huge bandage, cuz of the location! Now I look like a boxer who tapes their hands before a fight! I guess that is what I get for trying to be lazy and trying to hurry! Thankfully, it doesn't hurt, it's just annoying!

That was some storm!!

I hope you all fared well during Hurricane Sandy! We lost power for about 17 hours and one tree fell. (Thanks Sandy!) We still have friends who are without power and others who have lost everything.The phrase "going to the beach!" will have a new meaning for a lot of people for a long time.

The plus side of the storm for me was that I was able to hop through some great blogs, do some baking, cleaned out a file cabinet, hubs cleaned his part of the room--and through out a bag of clothes and two bags of trash!)

 I also spent time organizing my Pinterest boards and am oddly proud to say that i did almost everything on my Halloween board! OK this is a big deal for me, hand clapping would be appreciated!! :)

 I did find time to make a few craft items including this one below. I made a few and then got carried away and made them for some special little ones I know and some co workers.

Our Halloween activities were postponed til Monday so I don't feel as though I am late! (Although, I'm not gonna lie, I am beyond ready to switch my decorations to Thanksgiving!--my favorite holiday!!!)

I put little dum dum pops in them. In retrospect, I would have used double sided paper, but they are for little kids who won't care, they just want the candy!

 I am working on a plan to reconfigure them into Santa hats! Really wish I could give credit to who ever created the file, but it has slipped my mind. I will check Pinterest later and see if I saved it there.

BUILD A PROJECT

A few months ago i started following Creative Kuts on facebook. Check out their website at . They post a scal file every week, you can request it and then they just ask for you to post your project to their facebook page. Last week's project was a graduation cap. I seriously made this project in less than 15 minutes, because to be honest, that is all the time I had and I was under the wire to post it. Oddly enough I don't have any important graduates in my life this year. I will save it for the future when I need something last minute. It's a super easy project and you can fill it with money or candy!

MY BIG FAT WEDDING FOLLOW UP

Thanks for all the great comments and projects from my fellow bloggers. Congrats to Tiffany, a fellow Jersey girl, for winning the gift certificate. I think someone was spreading a rumor about her letting me help her spend it!! My nephew's wedding was awesome and it was great getting to spend so much time with my family! There are quite a few of us! This is only about half of my mom's descendants. A new one will be added in the summer bringing the total up to 50!!

At the time, I didn’t’ realize I would be explaining how I made them so I forget a lot of the details such as size and ink color, sorry about that. For the treat boxes I used Tie the Knot, pages 72 and 73. I inked the edges of the dress with a ink (perhaps Lagoon from Close to My Heart) to match. I just used a generic paper pack I had on hand. fr

The floating frame is the M on page 60 monogram shadow. The date is from the Art Philosophy cart. It is done with vinyl so it is pretty forgiving if you make a mistake. It was the first time I made something like that and I was very pleased with it.

For the large box, I took a plain photo box and placed patterned paper in the middle. The wedding invitations were brown, beige and turquoise, so I tried to use colors that coordinated with it. I used the same M form page 60 in Tie the Knot. This time I used the monogram and monogram shadow cuts. The love birds are form pages 34 and 35. I finished it off with XOXO on page55.

The wedding card was actually for my other nephew who was married last fall. The Mr.& Mrs. Is from the Sweethearts cart. I seem to have misplaced this cartridge so I can’t give you any more details except that is the cart I used. I also ran the white through the Cuttlebug. The sentiment is a word art. I know this isn't craft related, but they do light up my life!!
Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday!1 I'm a bit glad it's over, I've been so busy and preoccupied with preparations and work i haven't had a chance to create or post anything. st. pat's day crafts and cards

i decided to post some of my past projects since my actual creating is limited due to my house guest. a thought occurred to me to try my hand at picasa and their collages. here is my first one. i made a few waterfall cards, decorated a soap dispenser and a banner for one of my favorite holidays. hope you enjoy

Happy 21st!!

My eldest daughter, Mary Kate, aka , MK, finally turned 21 a few weeks ago. All she wanted was a pair of monogrammed earrings she found on a website called www.sweetcaroline.com. They are really adorable and very much her! She was thrilled! I decided to make this cute box from the AP cart out of acetate. I was worried how it woudl come out. Of course, I had my stash of sheets from my dear sweet Canadian friend Tammy and of course when I needed them, I couldn't find them. Of course, they were right in form of me and I was able to figure out this super easy project. I even cut out smaller ones for the love bugs to decorate, but they "hid" them for MK and we still don't know where!!

Life is very disorganized for my family right now. My mother in law fell three weeks ago and broke her hip and needed emergency surgery. She has been living with us for over a week. As a result, my craft area has been taken over and i cna't find anything!! it is making me crazy!! i went from using my entire dining room to having a small desk to work from. My tools and supplies are every where. Not only is my creating time diminished, so is my creative space. I am really really trying to make the best of it. I need to develop my CTMH webpage and there for need pics of items i have created. I spent a few hours tryign to get something accomplished. I did some quick card cuts and then I cut out the flower with goes with the "a note for you" stamp. Of course, exhaustion must have hit because i totally forgot how to stamp!! and this was the result!! I can not believe i did this! Anyway after a few minutes i figured it out and the end result is below!

Super busy unproductive day

Maddie's Sweet Sixteen

Today was super busy and unproductive for me. First i have been thinking that hubs was going away with his scout troop for the weekend and then i find out that he is not. so that should help me but well, not really. then my son came home from college today instead of tomorrow which again you would think would help but it doesn't. Work was super busy but the day dragged on and on. Then i tried to update out facebook page and it didn't like me. By the way, please feel free to stop by and like L and M Bakery in Delran, NJ! (on facebook) I forget to palce the order for new rabbit food we want to try from a new dealer. We have 10 or 12 rabbits and they eat a lot. We jsut acquired a new one yesterday. Trixie is such a cutie. I haven't even had a chance to see what sex it is though!  After work i had to meet my daughter and go to the chiropractor. Hoping it helps cuz my sacroiliac is killing me! Then i went to two stores for my husband's party on sunday and then back to the same store for my daughter's party on saturday! Can't believe my youngest will be 16!! and she is going all out!! or rather making me go all out!! At least i was able to be crafty with her invites for her party. I liked how they came out.Then i had to take maddie to the orthodontist cuz she felt like her expander was falling out. Turns out her mouth is expanding so quickly that it is jsut a bit unaligned. but it's fine. I am so hoping that this mean her actual braces will work quickly and that maybe jsut maybe she won't have braces for senior portraits!! oh well, she is beautiful any way so it won't matter, to me at least. Then it was back to the food store for more party stuff and a few things for the house. I finally got home at 8pm!! Still have computer stuff to catch up on and paper work for hubs to handle!! It's days like these that make it impossible for me to get anything done for me!! Boooo!!! Hope you had a creative day!!
